Foster Files: Featuring Waverly

Update!! we are excited to share that Waverly has been adopted as of August 11!

Meet Waverly! Waverly is a handsome, 10 month old Mountain Cur mix who is currently housed in one of our loving TAPS foster homes. He weighs approximately 50 pounds and may still have some growing to do!

This is what Waverly’s foster parents have to say about this boy:

Waverly is currently in a foster home where he lives and enjoys the company of his foster sister (a similar size dog) and foster brother (a much larger dog). He enjoys playing with both. Initially frightened of our cat, he now appears simply curious. Waverly has been friendly (although initially shy) with visiting young children and other adults. He walks nicely on a leash, has done well in public places, seems to enjoy visiting stores and rides well in a car. He loves to be outside and enjoys hiking. A fenced yard where he can enjoy time outside would be preferred.

Waverly is respectful of our home and does not chew on items other than his toys. He is housetrained, although in a new situation, an adopting family should expect accidents as he adjusts. He knows ‘sit’ and ‘down’. An affectionate and snuggly dog, he loves his people. He will go into his crate when asked and lured with a treat and sleeps quietly in his crate throughout the night. During the day, he will initially bark when left in his crate. He eventually quiets but may do better in a home that does not share walls with another neighbor.

There is no known background information on Waverly, he was picked up as a stray. As a young, large breed dog, adopters should be prepared to work with him on potty training, obedience and manners.
