The Adoption Process
If you see an animal you are interested in, we encourage you to submit a no-obligation application to be listed for consideration. After completing and submitting the adoption application, our front desk will begin the review process, which may take several days based on a variety of factors including but not limited to animal availability, reference, and landlord response. Applications for pets in foster homes are at the discretion of the foster home. If you have not received any feedback within 72 hours, please call the front desk at (309) 353-8277 x104 to leave a message. A front desk representative will contact you with an update. Approved applications are good for a period of 6 months. Approved applications may call the front desk at (309) 353-8277 x104 to have your application listed on additional animals that you may be interested in being listed on for adoption consideration.
TAPS is open by appointment only with an approved application. We are not currently open for public viewing.
If you are interested in adopting a puppy, kitten, cat, or dog from us, please fill out our online adoption application here.
If you are interested in adopting a puppy or kitten less than 6 months of age from TAPS No-Kill animal shelter click here.
At times, we have multiple puppies and kittens looking for a home. To move them into adoptive homes in a more efficient manner, TAPS approves puppy and kitten applications in the order received. Approved applicants will be called in to meet with any available puppies or kittens to determine if any available might be a good fit for your family. We no longer accept applications for specific puppies or kittens. Additionally, we do not hold a specific puppy or kitten for an applicant.
The process to adopt our adult cats and dogs remain the same. You may apply for one of our wonderful adult animals by name and we will process those applications as received.
