Foster Homes Save Lives!

Can’t commit to an animal long term but want to change their life?

Please consider serving as a foster home for our shelter dogs, cats, puppies or kittens!

As a TAPS foster family, you open your heart and home to an animal in need. Fostering allows you to share your home with a shelter animal without the long-term commitment of a permanent animal. Whether you want to foster a single dog or cat, or a litter of bottle baby kittens, we have a need for you. Foster homes help in many ways including increasing our shelter capacity, serving as a safe haven for pets who may not do well in the shelter environment, and protecting weak immune systems from being compromised in the kennel environment.

When you serve as a foster home, TAPS provides for the medical treatment of the animals and you provide the love, home and transportation to and from their medical appointments. You can be involved as much or as little as you’d like in the adoption process. The length of fostering an animal varies based on your foster choice. Bottle baby kittens and puppies can be with their foster families for 8+ weeks, and a senior dog who just needs out of the shelter could simply need a foster home for just a few weeks. You can talk with our shelter staff to determine an appropriate foster placement for your home and navigate through the fostering process.

Please fill out the preliminary form under the ‘Foster Application’ tab if you are interested in fostering a pet from TAPS. Foster parents must be at least 21 years of age. A full application will be required for completion prior to fostering.
