The Adoption Process

To begin the adoption process, please submit an online application at the link provided below.  Once the application is submitted, our front desk will begin the application review process.    The length of the review process can be immediate or take several days based on a variety of factors including animal availability, reference and landlord response, as well as  several other factors.  If you have not received any feedback within 72 hours, please feel free to call the front desk at (309) 353-8277 x104 to leave a message to follow up.  A front desk representative will contact you with an update.

We are open by appointment only with an approved application.  We are not currently open for public viewing.

If you are interested in adopting a puppy, kitten, cat or dog from us, please fill out our online adoption application here:  on-line form.

PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING A PUPPY OR KITTEN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OF AGE FROM TAPS NO-KILL ANIMAL SHELTER

With the onset of puppy and kitten season, at times, we have multiple puppies and kittens looking for a home. We receive hundreds of applications on our puppies and kittens. In an effort to move them into adoptive homes in a more efficient manner and streamline the application process, we will be approving puppy and kitten applications in the order received. Approved applicants will be called in to meet with any available puppies or kittens to determine if there is anyone available that might be a good fit for your family. We will no longer be accepting applications for specific puppies or kittens. Additionally, we will not hold a specific puppy or kitten for an applicant. If you submit an online application with a specific puppy or kitten listed, you will be placed on the general puppy or kitten list and your application will be processed in the order received.

The process to adopt our adult cats and dogs remain the same. You may apply for one of our wonderful adult animals by name and we will process those applications as received.

Our policy is to process applications in the order that they are received for in-shelter animals. Our small dogs, puppies and kittens are extremely popular. If you see an animal you are interested in, we encourage you to submit a no-obligation application to be listed for consideration. Applications for pets placed in foster homes are at the discretion of the foster home. They have welcomed our animals into their homes while they are awaiting adoption and understand the special needs of the animal they are fostering.

We receive multiple e-mail inquiries daily. We do our best to respond to each e-mail within 48-72 hours. To receive the most accurate and up-to-date information on an animal and any pending applications, we recommend calling the front desk at (309) 353-8277 x104.
